St Joseph's Convent Vision, Mission and Ethos

Vision: By 2013, St. Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando will be a more dynamic, caring educational community, which, guided by Catholic principles and valuing society’s diversity, develops exemplary women within a broad-based, technology-rich curriculum.

Mission: To provide an educational environment based on Catholic values which fosters the holistic development of young women while instilling a strong sense of excellence, service and self.

Ethos: St. Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando, shares the philosophy of education common to all the St. Joseph’s Convents, located here in Trinidad and Tobago and around the world. It was established on May 07, 1882, by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, whose foundress, Blessed Anne Marie Jahouvey, was concerned with the development of each human being to the full measure of perfection intended by God. A guiding principle of our school, as passed on by Blessed Anne Marie, is for the liberation of people from all forms of oppression and ignorance.

The raison d’etre of the school is the development of the total person, all of whose unique gifts are to be cultivated in view of a commitment to the school and the wider society. In all our activities, we are guided by the principles of our Catholic tradition, which considers each individual as precious and a child of God.

March 19 is St. Joseph Feast Day!

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph in recognition of his commitment to God, and God's will for him. He was not only the foster father of Jesus Christ, but also a hard worker and dedicated husband.

In this regard let us thank God for the good men in our lives:- fathers, sons, brothers and friends. Let us offer  these men up in our prayers, so that like Joseph, they too can be…

I'm having serious problems with the new configuration of the website.

I can't find my 1978 group!

Membership to the website will be by invitation only soon.

Just wanted to let you know that we have the site open now because its new. However, when a site is open for a little while, the spammers find it, then bombard the site with spam, lewd stuff, and a lot of junk. As a result, its best that we keep the site private. That is, you must be connected to "Convent" in some way to become a member. The best way to ensure that it's "Convent" people on the site is to make it invitation only. It work's by a present member sending a special link… Continue
